TITLE VII--INCREASED INFORMATION SHARING FOR CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE PROTECTION
SEC. 701. EXPANSION OF REGIONAL INFORMATION SHARING SYSTEM
TO FACILITATE FEDERAL-STATE-LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT RESPONSE RELATED TO
TERRORIST ATTACKS.
Section 1301 of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (42 U.S.C. 3796h) is amended--
(1) in subsection (a), by inserting `and terrorist conspiracies and activities' after `activities';
(A) in paragraph (3), by striking `and' after the semicolon;
(B) by redesignating paragraph (4) as paragraph (5); and
(C) by inserting after paragraph (3) the following:
`(4) establishing and operating secure information
sharing systems to enhance the investigation and prosecution abilities
of participating enforcement agencies in addressing
multi-jurisdictional terrorist conspiracies and activities; and (5)';
and
(3) by inserting at the end the following:
`(d) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATION TO THE BUREAU OF
JUSTICE ASSISTANCE- There are authorized to be appropriated to the
Bureau of Justice Assistance to carry out this section $50,000,000 for
fiscal year 2002 and $100,000,000 for fiscal year 2003.'.
